Christian: Warrior or Pacifist?

I have had a number of “Christians” tell me they are being reprimanded by fellow Christians for speaking out against President Obama and his policies that are destroying our Constitutional Republic…

If you are being admonished by fellow Christians for posting against the President, here is how I responded when my own church peers came at me….

First of all, don’t get into a battle of scriptures. There are scriptures that pacifists use as an excuse to remain silent and cower as they wait for God to deal with the problems of the world. There are plenty of stories throughout the Bible where God clearly called on His people to take a stand for what is right and just, sometimes He even called on them to fight in physical battles against rulers who were evil.

I would also tell your “Christian” friends that Jesus Christ ( whom they are supposed to be emulating ) WAS NO PACIFIST.

I would remind them of his display of anger and temper in the temple when he pushed over tables and raised his voice.

I would remind them of the words spoken from His mouth that they are to be the salt and the light.
(In case they don’t comprehend what he meant by that, I would say that He expected them to stand for what is right and just and to expose evil and darkness with the light of truth. )

Finally, I would remind your Christian friends that God will not do for them what they can do for themselves. He gave us minds to think and voices to speak.
You can speak TRUTH and shed light on the destructive policies of this president without losing your Christianity or disrespecting authority. Jesus Christ never stopped speaking TRUTH, even when He knew He would die as a result.

If they bring up the “respect for authority” issue, then you need to remind them that the President and Congress WORK FOR YOU…

Oh.. and be sure to tell them that without the wars fought by some of our earliest Christians, your Christian friends today would not have the 1st Amendment freedom of worship.

Then there is the issue of murdering babies. President Obama voted for partial birth abortion which is the barbaric murder of a viable human being. What do you think Jesus would do about that if He were walking the earth today? Do you think He would humble himself before an evil President who believes in murdering the most innocent among us? Do you think He would be silent and stand by, silently and give respect to a man who supports murdering full term babies?
Aren’t you supposed to be against abortion? Didn’t Christ say, “what you have done to the least of them you have done to ME?” hmmmm….

AND FINALLY, NOTHING MAKES ME MORE ANGRY THAN CHRISTIANS WHO USE THEIR CHRISTIANITY AS AN EXCUSE TO BE SILENT COWARDS.- (C) 2012 JAN MORGAN

      If you read the Bible version, there is no reason to believe that the whip was for any other purpose than to drive out the animals. Any farmer understands this.

    Excellent article Jan, I often feel conflicted about the balance between turning the other cheek and standing up for righteousness. I have come to the conclusion, if and when it comes to it, that I will fight for truth and justice and Gods laws. I’m thinking the time for pacifism is rapidly disappearing. We most certainly should speak up and speak out against the evil, socialistic/communistic goals of some of our leaders. Their goal is to destroy the greatest country, that was founded by men who desired to do God’s will and assimilate us into a one world government. Of course, you and I, knowing Bible prophesy know where that is headed. Keep fighting the good fight!

      Turning the other cheek is meant as a strategic move not as pacifism. In the Middle East they eat with their right hands, and the left hand is reserved for cleaning the body. You can’t touch another person with your left hand there, so let’s say you get struck with the open palm another person’s right hand. Turning the other cheek makes a backhand with the right hand impossible. Since the left hand can’t touch another person because it’s dirty a strategic move has been made. From here you can strike back or do something different. Definitely not pacifism here.

      I think a lot of us struggle to find clarity in this point. I look at it like this. Turning the other cheek is defensive. It will block the spirit behind the action from affecting you, the intended target. The slap will sting, but the spirit behind it will do much more damage to you if you align yourself with it and return violence for violence. We are not to be overcome by evil, but we are called to overcome evil with good. Forgiveness will protect us from being contaminated by evil, but I believe acting righteously will be required to overcome it.

    • Turning the other cheek is based upon personal attacks, standing for righteousness is a principle we are to uphold at all times, regardless of the attacker and who they be. Remember the difference between when God became vengeful in the rule of Moses over the people when the PEOPLE rebelled against God, and the instance of Elijah, when it was the leadership, that turned against God, being Ahab and Jezebel… God reacted in a way that brought the actual offenders into standing before the judgement bar. All were not accounted guilty. Only those that truly rebelled against God…in BOTH instances.

    Jan, I’m glad you addressed this because it has been an issue for me as well. I believe we dishonor God when we sit by and allow evil to reign free. Many of my Christian friends have been laying out the scripture and suggesting that we watch what we say because we may hurt the feelings of someone we don’t intend to. However, when I share the truth about an event(s) and someone is offended by it (the truth), that is not my problem. I will not live my life being a silent sheep expected to walk on eggshells. It goes against the grain of who I am and I will NEVER stop speaking the truth!

    Obama’s claim to be “Christian” opens him to our evaluation and criticism – the fruits of his political and personal life are evil, vile, murderous, lies, promotion of abominations, showing disrespect for those whom fulfill John 15:13 and showing true hatred for Christ Jesus – even allowing his hoards of worshipers to call him their “messiah” and “lord” and “savior” without ONCE protesting such blasphemy!

    Obama is the true son of the father of lies, in every way I can imagine.

    AND No, I am guilty of much sin, saved ONLY by the shed innocent blood of Christ Jesus.
    The only thing I find of value in Barry Soetoro, is that millions of We the People have found strength in our footing and resolve, in the Gospel of Christ Jesus. God can use all things for good.

    rist had the authority to rebuke.

    The Apostles Peter, James, and Paul all rebuked the evil political/religious leaders of their day.

    Liberal Christians I have encountered who reject criticism of Obummer (on Facebook) have done so because they think that all criticism reflects badly on them. They can’t admit how THEY SINNED greatly by voting for that monster. They also won’t admit that Obummer and Demorats do not hold the positions of responsibility of political RULERS mentioned in scripture. All are supposed to be merely administrators, working under the direction of We The People and our system of law.

    • The “liberal Christians” you describe are exactly what Jesus calls the “lukewarm” in Revelations 3, and of course, Jesus vomits them out of His mouth.

    • Correct Mark…David tells us to judge in righteousness and we know that is anything about a person by the motives for why they performed the sins they did…only God reads the heart or motives of that person. and in Isaiah, it states plainly, “Cry aloud and spare not! Tell Israel(spiritual) their sins and Judah their transgressions.”

      And if you notice, this is to those that profess to be God’s people, not to the heathen or Godless.

    Amen Jan. I faced more grief from Christians after the election than I I did Democrats. Ignorant Christians that voted for that insane man based on twisted interpretations of scripture. My savior was no pacifist. He was never afraid to speak truth.

  • Remember also how John the Baptist was imprisoned for speaking out against Herod. He did not hold his tongue and cower under the the false notion of respecting authority. Authority is to be respected as they earn that respect. Immorality is not to be respected but is to exposed and renounced.

    There should be NO DOUBT that being a Christian is to be a warrior. As we have seen in not only modern times but through-out history Christians have been persecuted and perhaps I am wrong in the opinion of others but I see that persecution growing. The Lord is a warrior, as it states in Exodus 15:3,4 “The Lord is a warrior, the Lord is his name. Pharoaoh’s chariots and his army he has hurled into the sea.’ Scriptures reveal God is a God of war as well as a God of peace because God is a God of justice.Proverbs 21:15 states” When justice is done, it brings joy to the righteous but terror to the evildoers. The book of Psalms for instance, Many of the Psalms are prayers to God for his guidance in war or hyms of Thanksgiving to the Lord for victory in battle. It was King David who wrote much of the book of Psalms .King David was also a soldier who loved the Lord and put his faith in the Lord. It was this faith that allowed King David to say ” Praise be to the Lord, my Rock who trains my hands for war, My fingers for battle. He is my loving God and my fortress, My stronghold and my deliverer, My shield, in whom i take refuge.Who subdues people under me. As Christians we must also remember that God is the highest authority and never put the authority of man over that of God. As a former US Marine and now a Police Officer I was at one time conflicted on where that line in the sand was but am no longer, the answers lie within scripture. It is time for Christians and good people that love our God, our country, and our families to be silent no more. We have been the silent majority for so long we are now becoming the silent minority. We have to begin to take back what is ours and what we have inherited or loose it forever. Pray for a peaceful resolution, but stand your ground, follow the Lords words and do what is right.

      For those men that want more clarification on your role as a Christian male I Highly recommend the book “Wild at Heart” by John Eldredge or “Captivating” for the Ladies. Wild at Heart is probly the best book I have ever read and it discusses this very subject

  • You are, as one brother puts it, a Remnant. Keep speaking the truth in love. Do not hold back. The Word of the Lord is in your mouth. Also….

    Here is the real deal, African American pastors need to do a better job in communicating these facts to the community and congregation. Let’s take it a step further. Adultery and fornication is the root cause of abortion. Just look inside the church. Most women are single parents. Do a check in your church and this statistic will shock you. Preach against sexual sins is a must. Now I know that you cannot stop human behavior, but we need to do a better job at living what we preach. Additionally, 12% of the US population is African American, according to the Barna Group, 6% profess to be church attendees. When 93% of the 12% of African Americans voted for the re-election of president Obama, that means roughly 42% affirmed and endorsed the sin of homosexuality and fornication/adultery agenda of abortion. So this tells us that African Americans affirmed more sexual immorality. And if this isn’t enough, 39% of all new HIV/AIDS cases is African American youth between the ages of 19 and 24. And we wonder why these numbers are alarming, stunning, shocking, and appalling?

    • I disagree with the thought that adultery and fornication are the root cause of abortion. Not at all…it is because we have lost, or been desensitized to the loss or abuse of human life…Timothy puts it, we have lost “natural affection”… Why? Because we chose ways of unrighteousness.

    I feel in my heart that I am a Christian but I have lost all faith in “organized religion”. The hypocrisy exhibited by those “faithful” is truly appalling to me. I can not believe in the preachings of the fundamentalists who seem to think that every word written in the bible can be taken literal. They have forgotten that the bilbe, as we know it today, has gone through many translations (by man) and was originally written by men–and is, in many ways, contradictory. These are the sheep that have blindly followed this president and his spend thrift ways, all in the name of doing “good”.

      Sweets, The bible is still sound and reliable. It’s not contradictory. It’s our understanding that is flawed, not the word. It’s the Spirit that gives life to the Word, not man. Remember the times that Satan tried to use parts of the Word to tempt Jesus to sin. Mat. 4:6 “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written: “‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.'”
      Jesus could have done what Satan suggested to prove who He was, but Jesus discerned the spirit behind Satan’s usage was not Truth. We don’t control God or manipulate His power for our own purpose, God is sovereign.
      Find a translation that you trust and put your whole heart behind it, even if you don’t understand all of it. This is faith. You will be blessed as the Spirit, over time, brings you into a deeper understanding to these passages that “seem” to conflict with each other.
      I think that God did this on purpose. Because He knew how legalistic we as flawed humans are. We must trust His Spirit to guide us, not our own understanding.

  • This is a Constitutional Republic. It means that the highest authority is not a man or group of men. It is the law. The highest law in the land is the Constitution. I am one of millions of people who took an oath to uphold and defend the Constituion. I cannot stand idly by and watch while others who have taken similar oaths violate and undermine it. I must speak up.

    Jan, Thank you for your great article. It’s truth and a point that needs repeating. I think the enemy has used confusion to bind us, keep us from being united and to make us feel small and impotent. We have become pharisees. legalistic instead of discerning. What you do is important but not as important as the spirit behind what you do. I need to speak the truth in love, not the kind of love that rocks babies to sleep. We need the love that comes from “the fear of the Lord”. To fear the Lord, and act on that, is “TO LOVE” because God is Love. This is why we are weak. We do not FEAR the LORD. You cannot LOVE God and NOT FEAR Him. TEST the SPIRITS! Name calling, back bitting and mocking are not examples of speaking truth, these come from spirits that bind. Satan cannot drive out Satan. We need to ACT in the spirit of truth. This is not disrespecting authority. It’s respecting GOD! If the spirit behind your words is truth spoken in “the fear of the LORD” the Lord will defend your words.

    EXACTLY, we know that back in the day there were plenty of Christian Pacifists, if their line of thinking had prevailed we would still have a King (or now a Queen), should we condemn them for standing up as they clearly sinned and showed disrespect for authority, thank God they did

  • Fantastic column Jan! This attitude is very common, and has disturbed me for decades. “All that is required for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. ”

    In doing good, we are generally cold, and languid, and sluggish; and of all things afraid of being too much in the right. But the works of malice and injustice are quite in another style. They are finished with a bold, masterly hand ; touched as they are with the spirit of those vehement passions that call forth all our energies, whenever we oppress and persecute.

    When good men do nothing, evil triumphs. Evil, sin and sinful men must be opposed. God commands those who are good, not just to avoid evil but actively oppose it.

    Christians are to not only to “have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but (also) reprove them” (Eph. 5:11). Those who do nothing about sin and evil, help the sin and evil to prevail.

    In the days of Elijah, the silence of many had allowed the evil of Ahab and Jezebel to prevail throughout the land of Israel. “And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? If the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word” (1 Kings 18:21). The silence of the people spoke volumes of their indecisiveness and inaction. Their failure to stand up, speak up and speak out permitted wicked and evil men to run rampant.

    Jan, from my POV:

    I am, by (my past) nature, non-confrontational… BUT something has driven me for over four years, despite interfering with my work, my health, my family time, my sleep. I do not believe this force within is solely of me, nor do I believe it is satanic.

    If we are to love that which is good… and hate that which is evil, then doing so, while sitting in a corner eating worms (enduring in silence) would only serve to harden and destroy our heart. Loving and hating are action words!

  • When we confess Jesus as our personal Lord and savior the new birth takes place(Romans 10:9.10). We have that image of God in us which is spirit. Then we are sanctified to be set apart from this world. We have Heavens authority to do awesome things on this temporary earth. As God’s throne is in the third Heaven and powers He has given us through the accomplished works of His Son Jesus the Christ. We can move mightily. We have the mind of Christ and do his mighty works.

    Granted not many understand the baptism of the Holy Ghost and the 9 spiritual gifts that makes is very powerful. As Christ seen the second hand garbage in the temple which God asks first class as well the money changers using God’s temple for mans ways and not His. That anger is reasonable as people were getting cheated.

    The country is falling apart as people depart from the one true living God and allowing He to be erased from American history. It’s time to take a stand. We put God first not any man. Jesus was never the average man as God is in Him(2 Cor 5:19). As the rapture is getting nearer we need to get clean with God and allow Him to guide and work in us. Next month will be the release of things to do to set America right by God’s grace. Amen, -Brother Jae

    The Bible also commands Christians not to bear false witness against their neighbor, which I see “Christians” doing every day in an effort to undermine Mr. Obama. Care to comment on reconciling that, Jan? I think if we oppose his policies, we should oppose his policies, not try to gloss them over with a convenient lie that looks good to people of like mind. I see this all the time from my friends who like to repeat untruths like his birth issue, the alleged 923 executive orders, the alleged cancellations of the National Day of prayers, etc. It undermines no one but ourselves, and makes us look like hypocrites.

  • There bill Obama voted against would not have changed late term abortions, which were already regulated so were not a method of birth control, but Obama thought that bill could have adversely affected women in other ways.

    Intact dilation and extraction (also known as D&X or DNX) is a late-term abortion procedure, incorrectly identified by the non-medical, politically motivated term “partial-birth abortion”. Any medical description of it is necessarily gruesome, hence the feeding frenzy of the right to talk endlessly about it, show pictures of the procedure, and scream about how inhuman it is. It is not a pleasant subject, but again, it should be reinforced that this procedure, like all later term abortions, is almost universally done on wanted pregnancies that have become medically problamatic. It would not be done simply because some women decided that she was bored of being pregnant.

    I am a member of the Black Robe Regiment and as a pastor I speak out from the pulpit and in my everday life against what is wrong with our Nation. The current president is not behaving as a Christian should and he needs to be held accountable as one commentator stated, ‘Obama’s claim to be “Christian” opens him to our evaluation and criticism’ as we each should be confronted with our failures. It’s time to stand up, speak up and speak out.

  • Jan: In my opinion,you cannot be a 1/2 Christian.You either are a Christian or yu are not a Christion.I am on you page that if you have to hide your beliefs of be a coward about your Christianity you may as well go into the closet and lock the door.The same with Truth.Either you speak tghe Truth or you speak a lie.Which will it be.If you are a true Christian it will be the Truth.Think and pray on it.

  • Jan ,thank you for speaking up on this issue. I agree and the founders that would turn in there graves if they knew what Christian Americans were doing with there freedoms. I remember a verse in the bible that talks about being good stuwards what the Lord has given us including our freedoms, being an An American didnt happen by chance, God planed it that way, so that being God placed us here to be responcable citizens with our Constitutional rights, like founders ment use to be and God ment it. If anyone that calls themselves an Christian American and just waiting for the lords Coming, need to go back and read the federlist papers or other documents of the founders on what American Citizenship is required to do for this Republic to function . If you are unaware of this then check out http://www.wallbuilders.com and youtube OS Guinness, he will open your eyes to alot of facts , I bet you didnt know, consider one peace of infomation he procents called the triangle of freedom for freedom to happen you need virture and have virture you need faith and when you have them you can have the foundation for freedom to last. That many other thoughts he precents. And if that is not enuff to consider, consider what bible says in Revelation on dont be setting under the tree waiting for time of the lords coming, but be active for the Lord. Or you will have big shock when you are acountable what you did with the tallets God gave you , while here on this earth , but even more here in America.

Ive been fighting the abortion/ murder issue since 1973 when roe v wade passed, now 60 million little babies have been murdered- God cant be to happy with America for this, one reason were losing our Godly blessings, such as our freedoms, I have 5 kids & 9 grandkids that I love dearly. Im in this fight full time so my kids & grandkids have their future freedoms. 1776 & our founding fathers fought & died & so will I today. The ones that dont want to fight in my view are traitors & not Christians. Our Revolution should have taught us something, as I see millions accross our great nation we are coming together we will defend the U S. DC is corrupt & theres terranny, time we march. God Bless America

    I will not Comply! As a Christian, it’s my duty to stand up for Christ. If you deny him, you can not enter into Heaven. Remember the DNC denied God and Israel in Charlotte N.C. I wouldn’t want to be in the company of that group of people. Christians should know better!

    Jan , thank you , your commentary vindicates me among men , though it wasn’t necessary under GOD . Allowing evil to prevail , even in government is surely as sinfull as doing it yourself . I have no power of wealth but I certainly have the power of my beliefs , which is worthless if I keep it to myself . Political correctness and ” tolerating ” evil is literally destroying America , a nation whose founders writings were devinely inspired to create this great nation the unbelieving communists , socialists , progressives , etc: etc: will go to any lengths destroy and make just another nation under man instead of one under GOD .

  • Jan, we are told, “Give unto Caesar those things which are Caesar’s and unto those things which are God’s.” And when the state or ruling government, seeks to interfere with God’s law to place itsself above God’s law or stand in its place, then we are to bear witness against it as did John the Baptist, who, as we all know, lost his life doing so, and so does God’s soldiers in the end until such time that God’s probation for man has ended, which will be when the state or government, makes following one’s own dictates of the heart or the laws of God which are in the end to be written on the hearts of each TRUE christian, illegal and punishable by a death sentence, or at minimum, life in prison. At that point man will have proven to God, that he chooses man’s domination over God’s free will. This brings me to a quote, which is prophetic in its words for our end time scenario. “In this fearful time, just before Christ is to come the second time, God’s faithful preachers will have to bear a still more pointed testimony than was borne by John the Baptist.
    A responsible, important work is before them; and those who speak
    smooth things, God will not acknowledge as his shepherds. A fearful woe

    well said, Jan! we are called to be Christians, NOT cowards! was Jesus a coward? ummm, absolutely not! were the original 11 (exclude Judas for obvious reasons) cowards? nope. was Paul a coward? nope. Were the “heroes of the faith” in both OT and NT cowards? of course not – why do you think we refer to them as “heroes” of the faith? it’s not easy to stand up to evil, but God/Jesus gives us all the tools we need to do just that. Should we be in a constant state of ‘agitation’ and/or ‘war’, well, no, b/c we’d wear ourselves out too often, BUT that does not change anything you said about being brave Christians. We can respect authority but dislike those who hold the ‘positions’ of authority. The President is a role/title that God allowed us to have within our civil government, but that doesn’t mean the people who occupy said spot can rule without limits on their behavior – if we don’t do something to stand up to the truly WRONG rulers of our day, be it Obama or others, than God will find a way to get the “final judgement” on them as he always does. (I’m not referring to Armageddon here, either, just the normal “meet your maker”/aka “answer to God alone” time we will all face at some point) . Like I said, “well put, Jan!” I’m glad you had the courage to post this article b/c while it’s not easy to reprimand, or rebuke(?) our fellow Christians, it IS sometimes necessary and dare I say, REQUIRED of us to do so. This is a day and time when we should do just that. Pacifism is a cop-out, or lame excuse if you will, for being “weenie-fied” or a “wuss”. It doesn’t help anyone and if we don’t stand up to our leadership and demand they act right (I mean, correct, not “political” right – hehehe) then who will? for ‘all that is needed for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing’ – how true that is!!

    You go, Jan! We cannot sit silent while our country is being decimated, and our GOD-GIVEN truths are being ridiculed, and torn apart. I will not wait like a sheep led to the slaughter, I stand strong and profess and do not give a whit what is said about me or Christianity; it is our duty, responsibility, and moral obligation to speak up and out; against EVIL (which there is plenty of) against the potus, and up for Jesus Christ. I am willing to do what it takes. We, as Christians, have to ACT. Funny how even professed Christians get wimpy and want to hide behind the “apron” of Scripture; we may be called to get in the lions den sooner than later. We are being called to act, and it is not by our fellow Christians…it is, I believe, by our Lord.

    Jan, I recently posted on my Facebook a similar statement. I have a lot of friends that say they didn’t like the outcome but God would answer their prayers and everything would work out. While I do believe that God answers prayers, I do not think he intended for Christains to just pray and have faith. I feel God wants us as Christains, to do our part. I have heard all my life that God helps those who help themselves and I truely believe it. It isn’t enough to ask God to help us and not do our part.
    I have heard so many times after something bad has happened like a school shooting, many Christains ask, “Why did God let something like this happen?” Well, frankly had they been reading their Bibles and doing thier part, maybe, just maybe, God would still be allowed in schools. If registered Christains had voted, I have no doubt the outrcome would have been different. Mitt Romney may not have been my choice for president, but he was a better choice than who we ended up with.
    Christains need to step up and do their part, period. that’s all I’m saying.

    They actively teach, “turn the other cheek” in SERE school (I’m not kidding). Jesus was a revolutionary leading a rebellion. He was an insurgent going against an unholy political regime that was infiltrating Gods People and their sacred place. For the love of God I am a Jew and I get it!

    I am reading lots of Old Testament examples posted here. But don’t forget Jesus was righteous. Meeting in secret all over time, like todays preppers. Heck, even his group of twelve apostles, that is the exact size of a special ops team. The founders of American Special Forces, also mostly Christians, and a few Jews drew ideas on warfare from the Bible.

    When you put the things that Jesus did in social and cultural context, do you realize how he was the first Green Brete? The average individual at that time would have been sought out and executed immediately, his little rebellion of Christianity would have been stomped out in an instant. He was the original person in human history to practice civil disobedience against the authority. He set up a movement, Christianity, to last long after him. He succeeded. The blue prince for raising up a nation not just a religion are in the New Testament. That is how and why it was what our founding fathers used as their blueprint.

    I have always been proud to live in a Christian Nation! America has lost this, and NEEDs to get it back! When the people allowed and stood by as we took the reminder of God off of our currency, the 10 commandments out of our courts, and the name of God out of our pledge I became more then just trivially concerned for this nation. Who are these atheists? What is the point of a Holiday Tree? Why does this sound like communist Russia? Why was General Boykin raked across the coals for being a strong Christian. There is no such thing as a “radical Christian.” He is a man of faith period.

    This nation was founded on Christian principles that the founding fathers were loyal to and inspired by. This also included the example of Christ not just in equality, good word and deed, but in resistance.

    Need I remind you that this has all been seen before in history. The NAZI’s were National Socialist. They limited and watered down Christianity as well.

    We the people are set up again. Weakening the Generals, shrinking the military, disarming the people, legalized marijuana free abortions in national health care remind me of Hitlers Doctrine of, “lives not worthy of life.”

    What happend to this Great Nation that pulled the world out of the pit of hell in World War II? It is now invested with the vary principles it saved the world from.

    Get a clue Christian America the new final solution is Liberalism, and YOU and I both don’t fit in it!

    When I think of the respect and loyalty due to an elected official simply because of the office he holds, I think of the principle of deserved respect and loyalty.

    Lets think of our relationship to our own church or synagogue. If a pastor were to depart from the inspired Scriptures and begin teaching and practicing those things that are contrary to the Scriptures, which, incidentally, provide our faith with its Constitution and guiding principles, would we be obligated to remain and honor the man in spite of his persistent departure from the foundations of our Faith? Would we be obligated to quietly abide and follow the man as he is becoming a cult leader and leading the church (our wives, children, and friends) into a great and dangerous error? Most of us would say a resounding “No!” Indeed, no leader is above his sworn duty to uphold the integrity of his office by adhering to his church’s founding documents … in this case, the Bible.

    Now, applying this line of reasoning to the realm of government, we can then ask: Are we obligated to honor, respect, and blindly follow an elected official who departs from the guiding principles embedded in our nation’s founding documents–the very principles he swore to uphold when he placed his right hand on the Bible? We are only called to respect the office holder as he faithfully respects the rule of law as presented in duly ratified and established documents.

    While we should not hatefully and sarcastically challenge our President when he sidesteps Constitutional law, we are certainly commissioned to question, challenge, and rebuke gross negligence and/or disobedience when we see it. When a leader turns a deaf ear to a law-abiding constituency, and stubbornly persists in his defiance to the principles of his nation’s Constitution, it behooves all responsible citizens to support the effort to correct him, or in severe cases, to remove him.

  • Have you considered that we are in the time foretold and Obama is doing and being exactly what was foretold? If you believe Holy Scripture then you understand there is and will be tribulation, but you also know, in your heart, that the eventual outcome is eternal peace in the Kingdom of God.     A Christian in a Republic has a duty to tell the truth. Anyone who says that a Christian should do otherwise does not understand Scripture.

They love the hate the rich message in which he campaigns. So happy to see you post this because I have been complaining about my fellow “Christians” with this issue. I work with someone who refuses to hear the truth about our President but calls herself a Christian. Another co-worker who is a Christian simply thinks that God has picked our President and we just have to deal with it. God didn’t pick this President! God is allowing us to reap what we have sown! Many Christians stayed home because they didn’t want to vote for a Mormon. Laughable. Why can’t we simply wake up and realize that this world is an evil place filled with wolves in sheep’s clothing? Many Christians have forgotten the founding of this country and the connection to the Christian faith.     The 1st Ammendment does not give us the PC Democratic term “Freedom of Worship” , rather the more broad “Freedom of Religion.” Dem’s purposely created this terminology and have defined it as essentially, “Your freedom to worship and speak about God is restricted to the 4 walls of the church.” Please don’t interchange this clearly defined Dem term for our 1st Ammendment guarantee.

  • Millions of people profess and call themselves Christians, whom the Apostle Paul would not have called Christians at all. Every time we give up a part of our faith to try to fit into the ways of the world, we lose it forever. We lose a precious part of God’s promise. Sacrifice to the world, and the world will never give it back. And someday when the world tells us we can no longer have our religion except where they say, and God is driven from our government our schools and our homes, then God’s people can look back and know that it wasn’t taken from us. It was handed over bit by bit, until there was nothing left.

  • Noting makes me angrier than Christians using their faith to spread hate and bigotry in all its ugly fashions. If you spread hateful words or repeat things you know are lies. or never bothered to verify, you are bearing false witness, which I believe was forbidden from the first writings of the Bible.
    It is fine to be a warrior and to speak out but when you do it out of blind hate, prejudice and ignorance you go against the very teachings you claim to be fighting for.

    Matthew 26:52-54, Matthew 5:38-39, Psalm 11:5, Proverbs 3:31, Romans 12:19, Genesis 9:5-6, and the sermon on the Mount in Matthew all teach non-violence. And those are only a few examples.

    Romans 14:10-13, Matthew 7:1-2, and Luke 18:9-14 teach non-judgement of those you consider to be sinners, as well as a warning against believing yourself to be more righteous than them.

    Stop trying to use scripture for your political agendas.
