Judge Orders Marine Released From Mexico Prison!

DEVELOPING: Jon Hammar, the U.S. Marine imprisoned in Mexico on a gun charge, will be released today, his mother told Fox News Radio.
Olivia Hammar said the judge hearing Hammar’s case issued a ruling in his favor and that her son is to be released at a time on Friday yet to be announced. No more details were available. Hammar, 27, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, has been stuck in a notorious, drug cartel-controlled prison just 15 miles south of the U.S. border since Aug. 13, after he crossed into Mexico and declared an antique shotgun to Mexican customs officials.
News of his pending release came just a day after a letter surfaced from Mexico’s ambassador to the U.S. that insisted Hammar’s case would go to trial.
“This circumstance requires that he remain under detention during the duration of his trial,” Arturo Sarukhan said in the letter.

  • wait for Obama to claim credit for this one too…..

    • I have no doubt that pressure from the State Department was largely responsible for Mr. Hammar’s release.

      • Doesn’t mean Obama won’t claim credit.

      • Lewis

So then, does that mean that they (the state department) possibly did that; because of, in spite of or simply no thanks to Obama and his; truth, justice and American way loving “crew?” I could see how this could well pain him (Obama) mightily to take part in,, you know, to help out in the facilitation of a release of a heinous gun criminal such as the likes of Mr Hammar. It’s just not in his nature to do so, me thinks…

  • What does that last sentence mean???

    • sounds like it means that while his trial is going on, he will be back in Mexican jail

    • Chris

That was a quote from the Ambassador’s letter stating that Mr. Hammar would not be released. Thank goodness there is still some sensibility left in that country. Too bad there is none left in the US.

  • Musica1

And Mexico wonders why no one wants to vacation there anymore.

  • tlmaker

The mexican judge better be bullet proof. The cartels will take care of him if he’s not.

  • Lewis

Do you know why the Mexican Government ceaselessly utters ridiculous statements and ballsy demands of the US and repeatedly does stuff like this to US citizens,, all while essentially demanding (and often getting) impunity for their citizens who engage in genuine criminality, and of the most heinous sort, right here in the USA? Ans: Because they can!

  • The Only news media that was pushing for his release was Fox News. They did it Daily on the Five as well as other shows. Thanks Guys for doing the job that the other so called news Channels would not do.

  • Conservativesniper

I propose a trade. We get LCPL Hammar back and they can have Eric holder.

  • ladyhuckleberry

Conservativesniper, don’t stop with just Holder. Hell, let em have the entire Dumocrap Party and it’s head fool. Maybe the Mexicans can figure a way of gettin rid of Odumbo since we haven’t been able to.
