During a recent speech I delivered in Orlando Florida, I made the statement that “Americans have been so busy living the American Dream, we are losing it.”

I am amazed at how many people I meet who are clueless about what is going on in this country. They are so busy, so wrapped up in their own personal lives, they do not know that there are cracks in the foundation that supports this country and there are forces dedicated to hammering away at those cracks daily in order to eventually bring America down.

I met a new neighbor a few weeks ago who is a perfect example of this “sticking the head in the sand” mentality. During our small talk, when he asked what I do for a living, I explained that I was in the TRUTH business. I told him I was once a mainstream television anchor/reporter who became disgusted with the leftwing bias of the business and now own my own media company. He proceeded to tell me something I have heard hundreds of times before….. that he did not watch the news because there was too much negativity . It brought him down.

I asked him if he read or utilized another outlet for gaining information about what was going on in the world around him. He said he chose not to access any news because it was just too stressful.

I let him know ignoring the news was not going to isolate him from the stress that is about to come when changes taking place in the transformation of this country hits his pocketbook. He said he would worry about that when it happened…
I wonder if he is worrying yet… as his money is becoming less valuable by the day.

I wrote this article in response to all the people I meet who tell me they refuse to watch the news, read it, or make any effort to gain knowledge about what is going on in this country. They don’t want to hear about the negative developments and certainly are not getting involved in the process to repair the damage.

Living in a state of blissful ignorance is not only foolish, it is irresponsible and inexcusable. The growing number of people who live in this state, are the reason America is being destroyed from within.

The penalty of refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.
Jefferson said, all that is necessary for evil to prevail is for good men to remain silent.
I say, “All that is necessary for evil to prevail is for good men to remain IGNORANT AND SILENT.

Please read this and share it with the American deadbeats..

  • Jan,
That is THE MOST succinct description of apathy in the US today. I’ve always grappled with the term ‘sheeple’, but I think that you have finally given it meaning. God bless you and keep up the fight !!!

    • Thanks Ed….I appreciate you for taking the time to share ..

I have heard the very same thing from people that “I don’t watch the news because of the negativity” and “there’s nothing can be done because the election is over.”I tell them that they better start being informed and watch FOX news and subscribe to programs like this on the Internet”.

  • greger100

You are so right Jan, and if I my add another similar Thomas Jefferson quote that has become my favorite truth of all ” Those who expect to be ignorant and free, expect what never was and never will be.” No truer words were ever spoken.

      I affirm your thoughts. Sarge

I rarely watch the mainstream news (major networks, not because it’s negative, but because it’s so biased to the LEFT and serves as an Obama cheer-leading squad) However I do watch Fox news for balanced coverage. I said news, not talking heads. I don’t really like Fox because of the combative nature on many programs. I watch their talking heads because they present their views in what I see as a logical and rational manner which is far more professional than ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and particularly MSNBC. I also receive many net zines as well as LIGNET

What amazes me is how the Left when presented with facts, like the e-mails showing how Hillary lied and was being fired over Watergate, can just ignore it, or say they don’t believe.it. Like Obama, they want her to be perfect and refuse to look at anything proving otherwise.

      Independentrd,

Another excellent source would be The Blaze.com If you’ve never heard of it,it’s only because its a new News and Opinion network and is full of positive stuff as well, with no slant to the left and no bs.

I am a seven year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, the following twenty years were spent in pulpits with the churches of Christ; finally, twenty years in the public school system as a 5th and 6th grade teacher. I, too, have always been in the TRUTH business, whether it was serving my country, preaching the Gospel, or influencing eager minds. It has always amazed me how we walk around with I head in the sky, surrounded by clouds; yet, not doing the simplest of things in political involvement, by voting. I am 73 years old and have been retired since 2009. During this time, I have seen the things I consider wonderful about our nation just deteriorate before my eyes. As old as I am, I am becoming very scared. The strongest nation in the world for two centuries has become extremely weak morally, socially, physically, and constitutionally. When I became a servant of my country in the U.S. Air Force, I took an oath to defend those things this country was built upon. Upon my release, some seven years later, I am still under that oath. My influence is not as wide as yours, so I say please continue to hammer on the rock of APATHY! Thanks. Sarge

I never watch the lamestream media, they make me sick with their leftist views, I get most of my news the web.

Wow, the guy Jan talked to mirrored just about everything my wife has said to me when we talked about stuff like this. She would worry about it when the time comes. We are divorcing, She wants to be free now. Goodbye. Good luck. I know I am not a stupid fool that is going to worry about it when the time comes, I will be ready for it. I wish I had gotten ammo before it got wiped off the shelves by the government. Who saw that coming? Backdoor gun control makes weapons we have without ammo just a heavy object to beat someone over the head with. Anyone know where I can get some 9MM ammo?

Those people should the 1968 TV show Shadow on the Land the show is set in a America where the president is in power for life and the civil rights such as freedom of travel, speech, religion, Choice and from unwarranted search and arrest are gone. While such an out come is not likely would anyone take that chance.

  • JediKep

Absolutely excellent. Thank you for your persistence in sharing the truth with everyone. The American Dream is a great one, but it takes waking up once in a while to WORK at it.

  • DenverDad

Is it apathy, or is it that are choices are painfully limited? Once I’m done with the essentials, i.e. earning a living, eating and sleeping, I have enough left to either neglect my country and take time for my family by home schooling and investing in my marriage, or I can send my kids to a daily post-modern indoctrination seminar known as a public school while occupying myself with politics.

  • Buchanan

The problem with a democratic republic (or government of the people and by the people) is that IT is only as good as US. And right now or these days, we kind of s%#k. It is every CITIZEN’S civic duty of voting age, to try to be informed on at least some issues and candidates, AND then vote an informed decision. Otherwise, NEVER COMPLAIN about ANYTHING.

  • abraham falgstaff

great piece of thought jan, ,,,.these kind of people are in the millions all over the world and there is nothing we can do about it,,,wait!! there is: let’s unite those who care….

  • llellc

Ms. Morgan, I believe you’ve hit the nail squarely on the head! (Sadly)

  • Ross Levatter said it first: “Can we all agree that, though noble in its intent, the experiment of giving Americans of subnormal intelligence a president and Congress they can relate to has failed?”

  • I_P_Frehley

Jan, I agree. This is a case of the old ” If the bad guy can’t see me, he can’t hurt me” line of reasoning. There is hope though. A lot of my peers (thirty somethings) are becoming very angry with the fact that nothing is sacred anymore. There are still those with the misguided notion that the stock market closing at 15k+ and propping the (dying) economy up with pixie dust and unicorn farts (see QE 1-3 or 4 or 7) is a perfectly sound practice with minimal, if any, repercussions. If only more had paid attention in Micro/Macro Econ class. God the help the clueless, but not before we’re saved from them.
