My take on today’s decision…

The government should never have been involved in marriage to begin with.
Its a church thing…
In my view, free people in this country should never have been penalized or rewarded financially for being married.
I have always felt it was unfair to people who wanted to remain single that they were taxed differently than married people.

I know some of my Christian friends will be angry at me about this but for me, todays ruling is not about the institution of marriage…

It is about “We hold these truths to be self evident, that ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL.”

I want the government OUT of our bedrooms, out of our STATES, and out of our CHURCHES. …

Let the people in the states and the churches determine what and if they chose to honor the word of God on the issue of Marriage.

Marriage is a God thing… Not a Government thing.

Details on todays Supreme Court decision from Fox News:

In a big day for gay-rights advocates, the Supreme Court on Wednesday struck down a federal provision denying benefits to legally married gay couples and issued a separate ruling that paves the way for same-sex marriages to resume in California.

Cheers erupted on the steps of the high court, as the rulings were handed down. The latter decision did not speak to the constitutionality of gay marriage bans in California, or in the country as a whole. The court avoided a broad ruling, and rather, determined that the defenders of California’s Proposition 8 ban on gay marriage did not have the standing to appeal lower court rulings against the ban.

As a result, California is likely to allow same-sex marriages to resume in a matter of weeks.
The more sweeping decision came in relation to the federal Defense of Marriage Act, which the court said was unconstitutional and effectively gutted by ruling against a provision that denied benefits to legally married gay couples.

The 5-4 ruling — a major victory for gay-rights advocates — means those same-sex couples would be eligible for federal benefits.

Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote the majority opinion.

“DOMA divests married same-sex couples of the duties and responsibilities that are an essential part of married life and that they in most cases would be honored to accept were DOMA not in force,” he wrote.
Kennedy wrote that the law “places same-sex couples in an unstable position of being in a second-tier marriage.”

The ruling prompted tension among the divided court. Multiple dissenting opinions were filed. Justice Antonin Scalia, reading from his dissent, said the components of the majority’s ruling are “wrong.”
“The error in both springs from the same diseased root: an exalted notion of the role of this Court in American democratic society,” he said.

  • This ruling could have never occurred had the government not got into the (lucrative) business of licensing (making legal) heterosexual marriages, what was already lawful under Yahweh’s jurisdiction. That which provides the license, ultimately makes the rules for what it licenses.

Had the framers not failed to expressly establish government upon Yahweh’s immutable morality, secular government would have never been allowed to provide licenses for marriage and this ruling would have never occurred. In fact, not one of today’s Supreme Court Justices would be on the bench if Bible law were the rule and thereby Biblical qualifications the standard for judges.

    • “…The Bible stipulates, among other things, that judicial appointees must be men of truth who fear Yahweh and hate covetousness. (See Chapter 5 “Article 2: Executive Usurpation” for a list of additional Biblical qualifications.) The United States Constitution requires no Biblical qualifications whatsoever. Nowhere does the Constitution stipulate that judges must rule on behalf of Yahweh, rendering decisions based upon His commandments, statutes, and judgments as required in Exodus 18. That not even one constitutional framer
contended for Yahweh,3 as did King Jehoshaphat, speaks volumes about the
framers’ disregard for Him and His judicial system:

‘And he [King Jehoshaphat] set judges in the land throughout all the fenced cities of Judah, city by city, and said to the judges, Take heed what ye do: for ye judge not for man, but for YHWH, who is with you in the judgment…. And he charged them, saying, Thus shall ye do in the fear of YHWH, faithfully, and with a perfect heart.’ (2 Chronicles 19:5-9)

“In order for a court to be just, it must be impartial. For a court to be impartial, its judges must rule on behalf of Yahweh, instead of the state or any one class, gender, or person. Because constitutional government adjudicates on behalf of the state and the people, many rulings are unjust and adverse to Yahweh’s morality….”
