Gun Owners of America: Gun Control to Pass if Reid Changes Filibuster Rule

Screen Shot 2013-05-27 at 1.41.04 PM

The Associated Press reports Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) is pushing for rule changes to eliminate the 60-vote filibuster threshold in the Senate in order to “win confirmation for some of [President Obama’s] nominees for posts overseeing workers’ and consumers’ rights.”

But the question raised by Gun Owners of America (GOA) is: how long will it be until gun control is heaved upon the American people if the filibuster is done away with?

It was a filibuster that put the Manchin/Toomey background check bill into the light long enough for Senators on both sides of the aisle to realize what was in it and reject it.
The bill was defeated on April 17 because it fell six votes shy of 60. But if Reid is successful in changing the rules, then Senator Joe Manchin’s (D-WV) gun control bill could “soon be brought up again and passed.”

GOA contends that if Reid successfully drops the Senate threshold to end a filibuster from 60 votes to a simple majority of 51, then it might not be long until the bans pushed by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Chuck Schumer (D-NY) see the light of day as well. In a worst case scenario, it might also open the door to the unstoppable confirmation of an anti-gun Supreme Court justice who will reverse the Heller or McDonald decisions.
GOA asks everyone to contact their respective Senators and ask them to oppose Reid’s attempt to change the Senate rules.

  • Anybody counting on the Second Amendment to protect their “rights,” had better wake up and realize the “rose bush” comes with thorns. The Amendment with the wording “shall not be infringed,” is the most infringed, limited, licensed, and controlled amendment of the entire twenty seven. The time is also probably coming when our posterity will see the Second Amendment repealed. This is the inherent nature and danger of optional rights versus God-expected (non-optional) responsibilities, such as the following one described by the Apostle Paul:

“But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house [including spiritual and physical protection], he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1 Timothy 5:8)

For more, listen to “The Second Amendment: A Knife in a Gunfight,” delivered last March at the Springfield, Missouri Firearms and Freedom Symposium, at http://www.bibleversusconstitution.com/#FeaturedMessages.

At the same location, you’ll also find a radio interview Larry Pratt (Executive Director of Gun Owners of America) conducted with on this same issue. I think you’ll find Mr. Pratt’s remarks especially interesting.

the crap keeps flowing, it has broken the banks and is flooding the land. The backlash will be hard and destructive. We have kept to the rules of the game, using the voting booth, petitions, demonstrations, and calls and letters to our representatives. Now we have a communist in the WH and commie punks as supporters….it will not be pretty

    • RIC54

Will be the end off america. How many will give up their gun’s maybe that is why there are foreign troops in our country being trained shot to kill and FEMA prisons in every state. This is a set up that will be pushed threw and when it dose get ready for a war within america that will effect every state, city and citizen we will look like a third world country with all the destruction and killing that will happen.

  • Jim

It may pass through the senate, but it is hard to imagine getting through the house. Unless the Republicans are stupid enough to pass something and let it get to conference!

  • IHateLibs

How much more of this Bullshit will the People take, before theres an Armed Revolt ??

    • Chained

I think everyone is waiting for them to draw first blood but it may be hard if blacks decide to go full stupid in a race war. Govt seems to be pushing that agenda though so they can initiate martial law. That’s when it gets real ugly outside.

      • matism

Just remember that ANY unit which participates in martial law is guilty of treason. Which means every one of them, and every one of their family members, is a valid target. Anywhere. Anytime. Anyhow.

They may indeed get to choose where it starts, but once they begin the beguine…

The Constitution as well as the Bill of rights are only as strong as “We the People”! If the Government via the usurper obamination go too far to the point of Gun Confiscation, it will be our job as American Citizens to Stop Them! “We the People” will have to Enforce Our Rights right back at them or lose it all! “We the People” may have to risk our lives in order to keep our Freedom and Liberty. Without Freedom and Liberty we are nothing but Surfs and I’d rather Die a Free person then to live even one day as a Surf! I pray most American Citizens will ready themselves and stand their ground too.
Remember this; the Second Amendment protect all of the Constitution and without it, the Constitution is a worthless piece of paper.

If any and all these “so called” laws are unconstitutional, they are Illegal, Null and Void and all American Citizens Must wake the Hell up and understand this and never obey them, If you do, you are stupid sheeple feeding into their agenda.

“We the People” MUST protect our Right to Bear Arms at all costs!

          • Wayne_1958

I for one will not obey any so called law’s, Legislation or executive order that goes against our Constitution or Bill of Rights ! I know I am not alone in this and I also know God has our back !

        • Chained

The NDAA nullifies the Posse Comitatus act so those that partake in the unconstitutional NDAA shall also become nullified, American or not.

  • IHateLibs

It’ll Never Pass for, or On the AMERICAN GUN OWNERS. Enough is Enough. I think its close to FIGHT TIME. Live FREE or DIE

The “nuclear option” rules change would apply to filibusters of presidential nominees for the Cabinet and federal agencies, but not judicial nominees or legislation, still a bad idea, but it would have nothing to do with gun control or SCOTUS nominees. Dingy Harry may not have enough Dumbocrap support to get this through, we should know by this evening, I think.

  • Chained

What would happen if we all, businesses and individuals alike, just ignored them and their unlawful attacks on the constitution? Let them justify their lowly and petty lives and write a hundred thousand more useless laws, statutes and codes–makes no difference ’cause we just ignore them. Defy, defy, defy, do not comply!

  • Chained

Reid needs a heavy dose of Vitamin L

    • Liberty1776

A heavy dose of my foot up his ass and my fist down his throat, old bastard

      • matism

Why not just let him dance at the end of a rope while swinging from a lamp post? Nothing like the Mussolini treatment to deal with traitors. And there are ALMOST enough lamp posts across this country to accommodate them all!

  • foxxybey

From my cold dead hand and no other way.

    • Liberty1776

there are only a few millions of us I think feel the same way! I would really like to get addresses and locals to find all these communist bastards when the revolution starts!

      • foxxybey

Amen to that Liberty1776, God Bless Friend:

      • bluejacket

They will be in their private fallout shelters. Now the leftist media on the other hand…..

      • matism

Why not just look around your neighborhood and find their enablers now? It is this country’s “Law Enforcement” who swore an oath to the Constitution before they pinned on that badge, but who now spit on that oath, grovel before their Masters, and do whatever they are told. Because after all, that oath was to a document written by pale stale white males, and NONE of those guys sign their paycheck.

A “company” car in the driveway is the sign of a traitor therein. Note where they live. And deal with them in accordance with their very own Rules of Engagement when the time comes. Free cocktail delivery through their bedroom window at 2 AM is very much in accordance with those rules. As is “If they weren’t associating with criminals, they would not have been harmed.” So feel NO sympathy for their families.

If even HALF the “Law Enforcement” in this country bothered to honor their very oath of office, NONE of this would be going on. Hell, if even ONE QUARTER of them were honorable. But no. That barrel is rotten to its very core. The only good pig…

  • matism

Let them go ahead and pass it. Then see what happens.

I see dead pigs. Streets packed full of their corpses. And their dead families with them. Burning in hell where they belong.

    • SRM29

So, you’re advocating killing cops, and their wives and kids?? That’s just sick.

  • Wayne_1958

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Keep pushing fools see what the reaction will be !

  • Corettab

    Unfortunately… Reid is my rep. :/ So…

  • wdcraftr

Just about time for an Egypt style re-affirmation of the Constitution. Any gun control is a violation of their Sworn oath to protect the people, and Uphold the Constitution. Not to mention, the Feds are now Governing the States, which is also Forbidden. Any violation of those Oaths constitute a Crime of an Impeachable offense..

  • Not true. This is for ending discussion and eliminates fillabuster not a vote or the numbers of that vote. Even IF it was passed there it would be DOA in the House.

  • James Stenfeldt

Maybe I am missing something on the gun control issue and nobody is bringing this up but since there is no huge push on gun control there have not been any more mass shootings. Hummmm

  • gsreagan

It’s too late … most of us already have an arsenal stock piled and are ready for another 1776 event. Let’s kick some liberal, progressive, commie a$$ into the Gulf of Mexico.

  • foxxybey

reid, obozo and holder need to be told, it is one thing to pass a illegal law to do away with our Constitutional rights and getting someone to risk their lives trying to take them from us who won’t live by this illegal move.

  • Jim28thReg

It doesn’t matter much what they do there in DC. they are a corporation people wake the hell up!!! What they do effects a ten mile radius and that’s it.
