Arkansas Board REVERSES Position on Teachers/Guns on Campus

Screen shot 2013-09-11 at 3.08.11 PM

A state board is allowing 13 Arkansas school districts to continue using a licensing law to employ teachers, administrators and other staff as armed security guards, despite a warning from the state’s top attorney that the licenses are intended for private security companies.

The Arkansas Board of Private Investigators and Security Agencies on Wednesday ruled that the schools can continue using the licenses for the next two years, but won’t accept any more applications. The panel had suspended the licenses last month after Attorney General Dustin McDaniel issued an opinion that the licensing law was intended for private firms and not public schools.

The panel had initially revoked two of the licenses Wednesday, but reversed itself after voting to keep another district’s license intact.

Now THIS is long overdue. Best case scenario in schools which allow this be implemented is that any would be lunatic shooter, would perhaps think better of attempting anything like the sort of school shootings we’ve seen here lately. When you know, or even suspect that [armed] help for your intended victims (and your own death) “is [maybe] just seconds away,” there’s no longer a such favorable percentage in shooting up a school for you as there once was when you knew for sure they were all such “sitting ducks,” is there?

  • Myrtle Linder

Maybe it would be better to lock the outside doors and have an armed guard nearby to answer the doorbell or whatever alarm system is used. Designated doors for emergencies fixed where they could be opened from the inside. If teachers have guns they should be trained to use the guns properly and proved to be trustworthy.

It has been proven over and over that there need to be upgraded protection for our children and should not be ignored or put off.

It’s an unfortunate truth that there is no proving anything to the loony liberals whose gun banning agenda leaves them salivating for any and all incidents of “gun violence.” Whether they are delusional, irrational or just plain “lying through their teeth” about their intentions, to hear and see the way they act, one can only conclude that at the root level, in the matter of banning guns, they believe there is no such thing as a pointless act of gun violence,, that is if it eventually serves to further their cause. So, once you cut through their “mock outrage,” as it is with them in the furthering of any other leftist political agenda, and here also, it’s clear that they really, really, “never [want to] let a good crisis go to waste!”

      • HappyClinger

Exactly! I say we adopt their tactic and call for the banning of “fist violence” such as that being used in the “knockout game” that’s all the rage in our urban centers. Let’s call for a limit on the number of knuckles a person can have on his fist. Let’s make every fist-holder have to pay for a background check and have a “concealed fist” license if they want to put their fist in their pocket. It should be a federal crime for someone to brandish his fist too. Also, every person who has a fist should be on a National Fist Registry.
        It’s just about that dumb.

Oh oh! Looks like I might be in the “penalty box” for using a word that is a certain moslim sect and making it, in this case, nearly homonym-ous with a certain excretory bodily function, as in scaring it out of somebody who is easily intimidated enough that it might actually really happen. An entire post was deleted and I am just guessing, that is why. Maybe if I had just simply said P-O-O-P, all would still be well and unruffled with everyone’s world, rainbows and unicorns too, and my post would still be up…

Many Liberal Democrats love to use the buzzword ‘fact-based
history’ to attempt to reinforce their position on ‘gun control’.

        Well OK, let’s: let’s just add the ‘fact-based history’ that has proven that many of the mentally ill stone killers in those bloody gun-free zones that these ” progressives” love to publicize and harp about so much were,… Liberal Democrats;

        Read on:

“GUN FREE ZONES” were signed into law by a
so-called Republican in 1991 and ‘reinforced’ to make it stronger by a Democrat in 1995 ( Bush sr. & Clinton were the fine fellows who sold you OUT ) ALL of America’s mass killings since 1991 have happened in these places.

Even a “Progressive” can’t argue with facts -or can they?

1865; a Democrat shot and killed Abraham Lincoln,
        President of the United States.

1881; a left wing radical Democrat shot James
Garfield, President of the United States who later died from the wound.

1963; a radical left wing socialist shot and killed
John F. Kennedy, President of the United States.

1975; a left wing radical Democrat fired shots at
Gerald Ford, President of the United States.

1983; a registered Democrat shot and wounded Ronald
        Reagan.

1984; James Huberty, a disgruntled Democrat, shot
and killed 22 people in a McDonalds restaurant.

1986; Patrick Sherril, a disgruntled Democrat, shot
and killed 15 people in an Oklahoma post office.

1990; James Pough, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and
killed 10 people at a GMAC office.

1991; George Hennard, a disgruntled Democrat, shot
and killed 23 people in a Luby’s cafeteria.

1995; James Daniel Simpson, a disgruntled Democrat,
shot and killed 5 coworkers in a Texas laboratory.

1999; Larry Asbrook, a disgruntled Democrat, shot
and killed 8 people at a church service.

1999; Columbine High School; Eric Harris and Dylan
Klebold, offspring of ‘Progressive Liberal Democrats [awaiting confirmation ] killed 15, injured 21

2001; a left wing radical Democrat fired shots at
the White House in a failed attempt to kill George W. Bush,

2003; Douglas Williams, a disgruntled Democrat,
shot and killed 7 people at a Lockheed Martin plant.

2007; a registered Democrat named Seung – Hui Cho
shot and killed 32 people in Virginia Tech.

2010; a mentally ill registered Democrat named
Jared Lee Loughner shot Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and killed 6 others.

2011; a registered Democrat named James Holmes went
into a movie theater and shot and killed 12 people.

2012; Andrew Engeldinger, a disgruntled Democrat,
shot and killed 7 people in Minneapolis.

2013; a registered Democrat named Adam Lanza shot
and killed 26 people in a school.

We could go on, but space IS limited, and anyone with half a brain

should get the point by now, even if the media does not.

Clearly, -there is a problem with,.. Democrats with guns.

Note: NO NRA members, “Conservatives” , “Libertarians”
or Tea Party people were involved in these horrid killings.

        OBVIOUS SOLUTION:

It should be illegal for ANY DEMOCRATS to own guns.

Locking the outside doors are against the law. I would love to see ALL teachers have guns and that way, Columbine etc might not happen again. But, then you have the risk of one of the teachers being a little off (nice way of saying psychotic, paranoid, etc.) and going on a shooting rampage. It would be hard and expensive to have enough armed guards to protect the kids. What a conundrum!

  • RedMeatState

So much for the “opinion” of the AG; what does the law actually say??
Now, WHAT DOES THE 2ND Amendment say??

  • hangman57

The only way to stop a shooter ,is have armed Teachers or guards .

  • HappyClinger

“Shall not be infringed.” Denying people the right to bear (which means carry, for all you dolts out there who can’t read beyond a 3rd grade level) arms is in direct violation of Amendment 2 of the United States Constitution. People who keep denying this truth need to be drummed out of office because they’re either insane or control freaks and it doesn’t matter which. They just need to go.

    • Lewtheprof

Delusion powered by the irrational thinking, brought by the emotional hysteria endemic to liberals and their way of thinking, is a powerful thing to overcome,, and worse even, all but impossible to counter by using logic and the presentation of rational thought. It’s an uphill battle, not at all unlike convincing the stupid of their stupidity, except maybe worse!

  • Kent2012

By the time the dust settlers in Arkansas the teachers will have panties, but no 9 s…

  • Charles Wesley Bird

    Hooray for common sense.

  • Phil Spray

We do need some armed people in the schools. Declaring the schools to be gun-free just identifies a safe target for the badguys. Whoever packs in a school needs to have school-specific training and be packing appropriate arms. For example, at least one manufacturer makes a pistol designed specifically for concealed carry. It has no safety, but the safety feature is a humongous trigger pull, one that elementary school kids are not likely to be able to provide.

  • freebirds

Teachers I. idea have had guns for years. Never any problems there.

  • freebirds

Teachers in Israel have had guns for years. Never any problems there.

    • Lewtheprof

Yes, and if there ever was an example of a fully functional, yet trouble free (internally speaking) example of a “gun culture,” that would be it. It’s why liberals in any other part of the world literally refuse to consider its example when discussing gun control for all other parts of the world.

  • Ross R Blankert

If you take away guns from the honest law abiding citizen, then only criminals and the government will have guns. Lately the government is not to be trusted. The government is becoming criminal too.
