George Zimmerman’s estranged wife called police to her home Monday, saying the former neighborhood watch volunteer who was acquitted of the murder of Trayvon Martin threatened her with a gun.

However, Shellie Zimmerman, who filed for divorce last week, later declined to press charges.

Earlier, Zimmerman was held in investigative detention, Lake Mary Deputy Chief Colin Morgan told Fox News.
Mark O’Mara, Zimmerman’s trial attorney, said the couple was in the process of splitting up their personal property at their home, which was owned by Shellie Zimmerman’s father.

He said his former client was surprised when his estranged wife and her father returned to the house Monday to take more things.

“There was an argument with Shellie’s dad over what does and doesn’t go,” O’Mara said. “Things got a little bit hot.”
Lake Mary Police Chief Steve Bracknell said Shellie Zimmerman called police shortly after 2 p.m.

Morgan said there were allegations that Zimmerman came to the home and Shellie’s father was the aggressor in the incident. Police say Shellie told them that Zimmerman had his hand on his gun and became aggressive, then punched her father.

Police officials later said both Shellie Zimmerman and her father signed statements of non-prosecution.
In the divorce petition, Shellie Zimmerman says she and her husband separated a month after Zimmerman was acquitted of any crime for fatally shooting Trayvon Martin last July.
