I am shocked at the sheer number of people in this country who have become enemies of the Constitutional Republic.

If you are of the opinion that the Constitution and Bill of Rights are out dated documents that are no longer relevant to the foundation and operation of this country, please step forward so I can delete and block you from my friend and subscriber list.

I will work with people who are misinformed but I refuse to associate with enemies.
Our Founders paid a dear price to deliver Liberty and have provided in our 2nd Amendment and Bill of Rights a clear directive on how to maintain it.
If you have a complete disregard for this, you are an enemy to my country and I have no use for you.

I just deleted and blocked a longtime fbook friend Kevin J. McKenna for sending me the following message:

Kevin J. McKenna: ” The 2nd amendment was wrote in 1776 ok this is 2014.. Right to bare (needs to learn to spell) arms was different then it is now.
You don’t need a gun to survive I mean what are u going to do shoot an intruder who has a gun too and kill em? How many people have had someone hold em up or broke in a house and most do not have weapons bc it carries and aggravated sentence for one. Two they don’t try to break in when people are home hello. These murders in malls and schools in churches and restuarants in theatres have paralyzed our nation and u think owning handguns solves all this OMG wake up hun!”

In addition to needing a review of basic grammar class, Kevin’s deficiency in history is also problematic.

It is one thing to engage someone who has a misconception or misunderstanding about interpreting the Constitution and Bill of Rights. It is another when someone who calls himself an American, yet feels the Constitution and Bill of Rights are out dated and irrelevant.

In addition to trashing the relevance of the Constitution, he went on to promote a complete ban on all guns, suggesting it works in other countries that have disarmed the citizenry.

KEVIN J. MCKENNA “Please figure out the safest way to protect the public and our military if we have to still sell guns to legal buyers. Yes PTSD and more I am sure but I thnk screening and asking questions about stress and what would u do if it became too much etc are something our GOVT better really look at.”

I explained to Kevin that while I believe there is a need for better psychological care for our returning Veterans, many of our brave men and women who have served honorably in combat zones, are afraid to be honest and open up with a doctor about depression and other mental issues they are having because they don’t want to be “labeled” and denied the right to own a firearm for self defense.

Regarding Kevin’s reference to “if we HAVE to still sell guns to legal buyers,” all I can say is, Kevin and people like him are beyond misinformed.
In the 20th century 170 million people have been annihilated by their own governments AFTER BEING DISARMED.
Disarming law abiding American citizens, Kevin, is not and will never be an option.
You want to relive the revolution, you try taking guns away from 90 million gun owners with over 300 million guns
We have a clear understanding of the sacrifices of our Founders for Liberty and will passionately defend it AT ALL COSTS.

Aside from the fact that the Constitution (all of it) and the Bill of Rights are the basis for all the laws in this land and are definitely NOT outdated, removing firearms from law abiding citizens will do absolutely nothing to lower the violent crime rate and will likely cause it to rise. Criminals will not give up or register their weapons just because a law says they have to.

    • Leo L Ludwig

      Look at Chicago

    • Chained

      Neither will law abiding citizens

    • Clint

That’s why they are called criminals,. They do not care about the law.

  • Randy Pat

Jan, my fear is there are too many Kevin s out there who have no understanding of the realities of human existence. Many more of them can be found in the movement toward a Convention of States. These individuals have no concept of the possible consequences for opening the Constitution to partisan modifications. The Constitution of the United States as adopted on 15 December 1791, is a pinnacle document for the protection and perpetuation of individual human Rights and Liberties.

    March 28, 2014

We the People of the United States of America stand at what is probably the most
critical fork in the road of our history. Our Republic is under attack, the
enemy is at the Gate and they hold the keys to the Gate! It is of little consequence
if you are; a liberal, who believes certain government interventions are
acceptable, or a conservative, who believes in the literal limitations placed
on government, as stated in the Constitution; all are at risk.

If you are an American there are certain issues you should be concerned about, and
very specific questions you should be asking yourself.

    • Why is the current administration, along with many in Congress, enacting policies
which seem to do more harm than good for our economy? The destruction of 1/6 of
our economy by means of the AHA, and the attempt to raise the minimum wage are
only two of the many policies that threaten our economic stability. Let us not
forget the out of control EPA, and its regulatory policies, which discourage business
growth. These are only three of many.

    • While our Republic borrows money from foreign governments, why do we insist on
lending money, or guaranteeing loans, or supplying other support to foreign
nations and groups, bent on our destruction?
In Libya we supported the “freedom fighters” who are closely associated
with Al-Qaeda (My enemy’s enemy is my friend I suppose.), and then we are
“shocked” when they kill our Ambassador in a celebration of the anniversary of

    • Why are the 1st and 2nd Amendments under attack? Freedom of speech and the
issues people discuss and the way in which they discuss them, is already
limited by means of political correctness, yet the government wants more
censorship in news rooms. The right of the people to resist crime and tyranny,
which has already been infringed upon, is under even greater attack.

    • While our military is being slowly dismantled, how much of the nation’s wealth is
being diverted to the weaponizing, and the militarization, of the IRS, NSA, DHS
and the TSA? Make on mistake about it,
this constitutes a standing Army within our boarders with a singular purpose. A
private Government Army answerable only to the autonomous bureaucracy.

    [“Rep. Elbridge Gerry of Massachusetts:
“Whenever governments mean to invade the rights and liberties of the people,
they always attempt to destroy the militia, in order to raise an army upon
their ruins.” (Spoken during floor debate over the Second Amendment, I Annals
    of Congress at 750, August 17, 1789.)”]

I believe this election cycle may be the turning point for our great Republic. I believe the outcome of these elections will determine which path the American people choose to follow. We will either renew our commitment to the founding principles of the Republic and the rule of Constitutional Law, or the United States of America will slip farther down the road toward oblivion. Elections DO matter. Judge the hearts of the candidates,

ignore the rhetoric and the promises, and judge them on the fruits of their

This is my opinion, and I’m stickin’ to it!

    • Doug Davis

Randy not sure if you wrote that yourself or if you got it from someone else, but it is excellent! It was also stolen as a facebook status.

      • Randy Pat

Doug, I assure you anything I write I sign RMHurst. If the writings of others are used there will be a citation for their work. I know this is not always the case in many of the posts we see on FB, however the recognition of the thoughts and ideas of others is critical to any meaningful discourse. Without that recognition there is no communication. RMHurst

      • Randy Pat

Doug, is it possible to expand on your statement; “It was also stolen as a facebook status.” This is something I was not aware of, and I’m not sure if there is anything a person could do about (chalk that up to my limited knowledge of how facebook operates.) RMHurst

      • Clint

The question becomes, who stole it?

    • Randy/Pat…. I fear there are too many as well… however only 3 percent fought the first round… I am confident we more than have that covered this time.

    • Rand0Mone

If the far-left had their way, the United Nations would be making the rules here. Those of the far-left clearly do not love America.

      • Clint

If I had my way, the UN would wonder how they were deep sixed off the N.Y. coastline.

    • Ann Wilson

I agree with Doug this article is excellent. I am not so sure about this election cycle though. I think it is too late to rely totally on that. For one, as Jan points out, look at the lack of knowledge in so many voters. They do not account for all the apathetic citizens who will not vote at all. Finally, are elections are crooked with illegals voting, Obama supporters voting more than once and intimidation at the polls in some places. The sad thing about all this is it did not come about over night. This was a well planned scheme over many years that is now manifesting.

  • niteowl

Kevin, being a stickler for spelling like you are, the 2nd Amendment was written, not “wrote” Genius.

  • Rand0Mone

Kevin needs to learn English almost as much as he needs to learn about history and sociology.

Sadly, people are bombarded daily by “progressive” liberal propaganda that tries to position their anti gun stance as… “If nobody has guns we will all be safer.”
In theory, perhaps. But it is a completely impossible fantasy, and anybody with any real-world experience knows that. Forgetting about the potential threat from government, the existing threat from armed criminals is a real and ever-present danger. Criminals do NOT adhere to our laws, least of all any gun laws. There are currently over 20,000 gun control laws on the books here in America, yet anybody can obtain illegal weapons and ammo on the streets as easily as they can obtain illicit drugs, prostitutes and other things that are illegal. It is, unfortunately, impossible to control. If all gun sales were banned, and I mean *ALL*, not just “assault” weapons, the number of illegal private gun shops where guns are MADE, not ordered from some manufacturer, would soon become as common as meth labs. The required equipment is easy to obtain. The number of guns smuggled into the country would increase too. Anybody who believes legislation will diminish the number of weapons in the hands of criminals is a fool. It would diminish the number of weapons owned by law-abiding people who have no intention of using them for criminal purposes.

  • Phillip Coffey

The one thing that has not changed in all these years is human nature. There are still people out there who do not care how hard you worked to get what you have. They mean to take it from you, even if they have to shoot you to do it. They world is full of good people and bad people (who mostly pose as good people). Until we can ascertain, beyond ANY doubt, which is which, then banning guns is ludicrous. As it stands today, if you outlaw guns, then only the outlaws will HAVE guns. The police are overworked and undermanned and their response time has been severely compromised due to that fact. I know this has been stated many times before, but if someone has broken into YOUR house (even if it is because they think you are not home), which would you rather rely on; a 20 minute wait time for help to arrive (assuming you HAVE TIME to call for help), or a solution that travels at 1200 fps? An armed home owner is not an easy mark, whereas an unarmed home owner can be breached and dealt with without worry of return fire. An assailant is embolden by the lack of impediment and the criminal mind is much like an electric current… they follow the path of least resistance. Given the choice of breaking into a home where the owner is armed as opposed to breaking into a home where the owner is NOT armed, which do you think they will choose? In light of the conditions we are dealing with today, it is not a hard decision to make. A handgun in the hands of a responsible citizen is NOT dangerous and only poses a threat to the folks who see it as an obstacle that keeps them from robbing said citizen blind. This includes a tyrannical government. Additionally, the way that our government is cutting back on our military, it may be necessary to call on a “well armed militia” to protect the U.S. in the event of an armed confrontation with a foreign entity on U.S. soil. If nothing else, if for NO other reason, then let THIS be reason enough. It is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it…

    • Phaenius

Technically, “well armed militia” to protect the U.S.” is not what the Second Amendment was for. The folk writing the Constitution felt it was a come on for the reluctant states to sign on to the New Federal Constitution by reassuring the states they would NOT interfere with the States well trained in arms on their own dime civilian resource when the STATE feels they are threatened and need to procure an army that needs only the training in troop movements and working as a unit to make them fit as that of their regular army, ergo WELL REGULATED. The people already were trained to use arms on their own dime so the State had the added benefit of economy in utilizing their resource…if the Federal government will not molest them in that self discipline the citizens already had.
So any activity when a Federal Government fails is that of one’s own state and their need for their militia. Not saying you were really wrong but wanted to make even stronger the reason for the second ammendment.

  • trixiewoobeans

Do they not “get” that the historical gun grabs in our history preceded a takeover of a ruthless, dictatorial government? I mean, it’s not rocket science. Methinks “Kevin” should be dumped into a Gun-Free city, like Chicago, so he could find out “who” rules in gun-free zones, and who has all the guns. It’s not the merciful, just and kind! Make that nationwide and see what happens Kevin.

  • Herman Nelson

People like Kevin need to be transported back in time and have to live through some of the most hellish times on earth. Where would a I transport Kevin? Easy- Germany November 10, 1938 (Kristallnacht), Soviet Union during Stalin’s purge, China 1948, Mao’s purge, Ukraine 1932 during the Holodomor (man made famine). I want Kevin to feel and experience the fear and pain and having to endure hardships that are unimaginable. People like Kevin have no concept of what man can do to his fellow man. Kevin and idiots like him are the ones that say “it could never happen here!”. Welll.. People like Kevin unknowingly support and create governments that are willing to torture and kill their own citizens. Kevin- if you’re reading this, you’re doing it now.

  • Judah’s Daughter

See, Kevin doesn’t realize he’s alive and well and has the freedom to be so uninformed and dangerously ignorant because of the 300 million guns owned by 90 million gun owners.

  • TheNomadd

“How many people have had someone hold em up or broke in a house and most do not have weapons bc it carries and aggravated sentence for one. Two they don’t try to break in when people are home hello.”
Seriously? Has Kevin never heard about the increase in armed home invasion robberies over the last few years? Or is he truly that retarded?

  • US Army (retired)

WITH guns, we’re ‘CITIZENS’, WITHOUT them, we’re ‘SUBJECTS’!

“No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.” — Thomas Jefferson

“Firearms are second only to the Constitution in importance; they are the peoples’ liberty teeth.” — George Washington

“The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference – they deserve a place of honor with all that’s good.” — George Washington

2nd Amendment “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS SHALL NOT BE

Definition of to KEEP: to hold or retain in one’s possession; hold as one’s own.
Definition of to BEAR: to carry, transmit, transport, have a characteristic of and exhibit.
Definition of INFRINGE: to “encroach” upon in a way that violates law or the rights of another.

THIS IS THE WORD MOST FORGOTTEN……INFRINGE!!!!! Read the meaning!!!

    Definition of INFRINGE/ENCROACH……..
1: to enter by “GRADUAL STEPS OR BY STEALTH” into the possessions or rights of another.
2: to advance beyond the usual or proper limits

Why is this so hard to understand?

The meanings of the words in the Second Amendment have not changed since the amendment was ratified. I’m not aware of the Second Amendment being repealed or amended.

  • Chained

Kevin is yet another classic example of a purposely dumbed down society. I say to all those that do not like firearms, the 2A or the constitution to kindly relocate their ignorant, arrogant, rectally inserted craniums to any gun free country they so desire. I hear N Korea and China would love to have you.

  • Jan Morgan: “I am shocked at the sheer number of people in this country who have become enemies of the Constitutional Republic.”

Jan, no offense intended, but I am shocked at the sheer number of Christians who are ironically promoting a document that in nearly every Article and Amendment is antithetical, if not seditious, to Yahweh’s sovereignty and morality.

For the evidence, see “Bible Law vs. the United States Constitution: The Christian Perspective,” in which a chapter is devoted to examining every Article and Amendment by the Bible, at http://www.bibleversusconstitution.org/BlvcOnline/blvc-index.html. All 565-pages are online.

Take our Constitution Survey in the right-hand sidebar and you’ll receive a complimentary copy of the 85-page “Primer” of “BL vs. USC.”

    • Clint

Your shock, is based on your perception of what you think Yahweh’s word says. Ted, you do much offense, not to me, but to others who are believers. You obviously do not know the difference between the religious and the secular. Had Jesus/Yeshua been promoting a secular/religious government that was to supplant the Roman empire, I have no doubts that He could have done so. His goal was the salvation of the individual, not the state. Your goal however, seems to be just the opposite. Establish a nation on this earth that will embody all of the Laws of Moses, and therefore of God, which by the way, no one could keep, in a greater effort to accomplish something that Moses could not; the kingdom on this earth. Ted, there was a time that I thought you were just someone who had a misunderstanding of the Word. Please don’t misunderstand me, you do misunderstand the Bible, because you do not know how to “rightly divide” it. If everything in the Bible was written to us, the believers, you would be dead on the money. You would be correct. The vast majority of the Bible was written to the Hebrew people, not to Gentiles. My prayer is that your eyes will be opened.

      • Clint, my goal is not just the opposite. Salvation is for the individual, the remnant called by Yahweh.

I’m simply addressing the question as to what standard is optimum for governing finite, fickle man and thus society at all levels (personal, family, church, and civil government, particularly in this instance, the latter). There are only two choices: 1) Some form of Judges 21:25, every man (whether individually, collectively, by representation, or via a 5 to 4 majority decision) doing that which is right in their own eyes, or 2) Yahweh’s immutable morality as reflected in His perfect law and altogether righteous civil judgments (Psalm 19:7-11).

        Do you believe Psalm 19:7-11?

Now, if my promoting Yahweh as King, Judge, and Lawgiver and therefore His moral triune law (His commandments, statutes, and judgments) as the standard we should be living our lives, individually and collectively alike, offends you, I’m sorry. But you may want to consider that says as much about your brand of Christianity as it does mine.

Once again, I would recommend our book “Law and Kingdom: Their Relevance Under the New Covenant.”

      • Bob

LOL – try opening up the bible and actually applying in equity the scriptures in harmony.

ALL one really has to do is APPLY the 10 Commandments to see this – so are you claiming the 10 commandments are OFFENSIVE to professing Christians ? — if so – I submit to you – that you’re taking up support for wrong doers instead of Yah’s righteousness.

The constitution is the life blood of America. I would fight not only for the constitution, but for the ideas its writers fought for. Liberty, freedom, the right to protect our families, the right to express our thoughts without fear of retribution. Kevin is a fool, he is exactly what treason and misinformation are made of. He and his type arent smart enough to think for themselves. I am an American, a patriot. I love the constitution and the rights it provides. Hundreds of thousands of veterans have died so that morons like Kevin can express their misinformed views freely. God bless America, I honor all who defend our fore fathers sacrifices.

  • Clint

That’s a hill I will be glad to die on.

  • Kioga

Jan I agree with you and have my own concerns as well, like Congress putting/appointing these anti-American people in positions of power and decision making in the first place (both Democrat and Republican) ! Our leaders have forgotten or take lightly, their oath of office and their responsibility to oust the individuals when they’ve run amok, plus made it so iron tight, that firing any federal employee is time consuming Impossible ! Americans are tired of this, and unfortunately believe that talk is becoming a waste of time and physical action in the only option to get the job done, whether anyone likes it or not. Talk is Cheap, as the old saying goes, and unless the leadership of both parties begin to take heed and do what’s right, you can pretty much envision how Liberty and Freedom will progress, and the Tree of Liberty will be anointed once again.
